    changing formats of cells

    hi need help with the following i have 1500 rows and around 15 columns to change

    format says 1.49-2

    I need it to say 01:49.2

    when I highlight it and go into format cells
    and change it to min:ss.0 it changes to the following 48:28.8

    i have included a file for you to see

    I don't think you can do it.
    The 1 in 1.42999 represents the # of days after 12/31/1899 to Excel, so it will insist on formating it as a date. the .42999 represents a fraction of 1 day, so Excel will insist on representing it as a time. When you tried "mm:ss.0", you just told Excel to not display the date (the 1).

    Using a format will be difficult (for me at least) given the period value... ie the values as foxguy has already said are not time values (time is decimal)

    You can convert the values to time using formulae, such as

    =DOLLARDE(B1,60)/1440

    The result is a true time value and as such the format of the cell containing the result can be formatted to: [mm]:ss.0

    Can you work with that ?
