HH:MM format greater than 24 hours

    Hi All,

I have created a timesheet that has a running tally on it of accumulated time in lieu. The problem is that alot people use this timesheet who do not understandd the difference between hours and minutes and decimal numbers so I need formating on these cells so they stay in the HH:MM format. Excel does not like times that are in excess of 24:00. Does anyone have a Macro that enables the user to enter a time that is greater than 24:00 while keeping the HH:MM format?

In addition to that, does anyone now if there is a Macor that will allow the user to enter a negative time (-12 hours& 30 miutes (-12:30))?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have tried towork on this for a while with no sucess.

    Thanks in advance,
    Chicpea.

Re: time format > 24 hours, use a Custom Format of: [hh]:mm

    Re: negative time... see: http://www.j-walk.com/ss/excel/usertips/tip051.htm
but be VERY wary of using 1904 Date System...

if you want people to be able to enter -4:00
and take that away from a real time then you could try like attached in column b
