    lock a part of workbook

    Hi there

    I have a workbook with 12 sheets. First 7 sheets (let's call it GROUP A) are prepared by me and then I email the file to some folks who work data over the next 5 sheets (GROUP B). I would wish to do the following improvements, if possible:

    1. When open workbook, I would like to pop up a msgbox asking if the user is the project manager or other user. If project manager, a password would be asked and allow to work in any sheet.

    2. If any other user, the group A would be locked for no change any data except print and only allow the user to work on any sheet of group B.

    Is that dificult to do?

    There are a few parts to this.

    You need to force the user to enable macros, prompt for a password, check against a list, and then do what's appropriate for various sheets (make them visible, unprotect them, unprotect certain cells, ...).

    You also need to password protect the VBA project.

    If you search the forum for splash screen you'll find lots of examples.
