A way of creating a date montior?

    Hi all,
I hope someone can help, i need to create a excel sheet that will allow me to input dates but then get them to be reviewed against todays date for classification (eg out of date, in date, out of date soon).
Classification could be done by colour only if this is easier?

Basically, a) how do I set a date in a cell that updates itself to todays date on opening up the worksheet.

    b) How can I set up a classification against the dates

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Hello Shack7,

    Welcome to the Forum!

You can use the formula below to return the current date without having to use the Workbook_Open() event.

To answer the second part of your question, you will need to provide more information before I can give you an answer.

    1) What cells will this apply to?
    2) What are the limits for: out of date, in date, out of date soon?
    3) How are these limits calculated?
    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

In addition to Leith's comments you may find some of Chip Pearson's info on his site useful for increasing your understanding about how to work with dates in Excel:
