converting dates to points

Hello everyone

Can any of you tell me how i can convert dates to points?

Have a spreadsheet (say column A) of various dates. Column B is filled with points for various tasks that were completed. I would like for Excel to place in Column C the point value if the dates (column A) match up to the points (column B).

How do i calculate Column C...thanks

for example

Column A Column B Column C
Date Points Total
02/02/09 5 5
02/04/09 15 15
02/08/09 0

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
