EnableEvents = False Before Save

Hi all,
I have been struggling with my program's SelectionChange event. When it is saved while creating a PDF. then to continue work on the workbook, flickering takes place and slows the computer down. I have tried to set ScreenUpdating to false then to true later with no luck. I tried to set EnableEvents =False before save but am not able to get it back on when the book is activated. I don't know if I am going in the right direction with this, so any help is appreciated.
