Adjust plot to variable data range

Hello,

I wonder how I can create a plot of a data range that will vary depending on the project length.

I have a data range displaying a monthly result of a contract. The contract could range from 3 years to 20 years. Currently I have just plotted the range I need, but how can I make Excel to select the entire range (20 years x 12) but just plot the acutal range (3 years x 12). Currently I will get a loooong diagram with only data in the left corner displaying values fort the first years but zero for the rest of the 17 years x12. Any tips how to solve this?

I must say this is purely speculative, and I have little experience of charts, but I wonder if you could use a dynamic named range and reference that in your chart?
