Getting rid of the pulldown selection in a pivot table

    Hi VBA Gurus,
I have been putting off asking this question and I have finally remembered. When I create and run a pivot table, which I do love. the one drawback that I see is that it remembers the selections in the pulldown selections in the table, therefore if I ran a pivot table an one of my selections for the columns was dates the pulldown would remember all the dates that had been run through the pivot tables since the first time, I also noticed that it brings in the data column header, "Date posted", and blank. I would also like to be able to have it remember a these and a select number of common errors that come through when you run it the first time.
My workaround was to create a macro to change the key header title on the data source, refresh the pivot table ( which will then abort) , re-fix the header and run refresh the headers again and manually go into the pull down selection menu and uncheck the items I did not want...
Thank you for your assistance, and any help in this matter.
    James

Thanks, it answers the first part of getting rid of the store information, however how would I make so that I can assign certain items to be ignored ie. "DAte posted", "#ref", "(blank) which will come up every time I re-ran it it with data.
I will have to look for that book...
