Selected Cell Width

2 questions.

1. I can figure out how to get the width of the activated cell, but how do i get the width of the selected cells? so if A1:A3 is selected, how would I get the number that is the width of A1 + width of A2 + width of A3?

2. I notice the width is it does use is neither pixels nor excel's width amount. What is this number and how is it calculated?

Points = 1/72 inch.
