    excel macro request

    Hi
I would like to create a macro that performs the following task. please let me know if this is possible and how it would be done.

I want to copy text from a range of individual cells and then paste all of the individual cells copied and paste this data into a single cell with all the text separated by hyphens between the texts.

    Example attached

If you are a macro writer i have a project that i need to complete. you will be compensated for your time.

    Question:

Would you prefer a macro, or a userform that you can then input information to and have it hyphenate it?

    Edit: Try this file.

Click the button to open up the userform. Next, you can drop down the text box and select the range to work on. Finally, click Hyphenate, and it will Hyphenate the selection, and place it in cell J13. Let me know if it works, and we can tweak it to perfection.

Otherwise, you can use this macro approach:

    Thumbs up ASAP Utilities

I think there's an Excel Addin that can do what you're wanting to do.

ASAP UTILITIES is a GREAT timesaver. I don't think anyone that uses excel every day should be without it.

One of the features is the ability to merge cells and separate data by any characters.

Use the merge columns or rows ability to merge the data... I hope this helps. If it doesn't work exactly, there ALWAYS seems to be a way for me to do what needs to be done in ASAP. Sometimes it just takes more than one step.

    Enjoy!

Red face Sorry, I meant no harm!

I just haven't been on the forum in a while, and when I saw that something I had posted was questioned as spam I wanted to clarify that I was giving a sincere suggestion. ASAP is free to non-commercial users, and I am in no way an affiliate of ASAP. I just use their tool(s) at least 20 times a day, and thought it would solve the original poster's problem quickly.

I apologize for any confusion or wrongdoing on my part. I won't post about it again, unless I see somewhere it will be of use… if that’s not OK, please email me.

I also didn't intend to re-open an old thread as spam, again, I just wanted to clear up any misconceptions. Please close this thread down if it will cause a problem!

    Best Regards
