    Copy from One Worksheet to Another Automatically

    I'm creating a spreadsheet for our maintenance facility. I have a worksheet that will have the standard input for a garage that I programmed using VLOOKUP. Within this worksheet I also have drop downs to select the type of work performed on various vehicles i.e. "Replace Alternator, "Replace Brake Shoes" and so on. There are several departments that use this service. Public Works, Park Department, Inspection Department etc.

    In creating a report the manager wants to break it down by department of the repairs made. So what I need is for excell to read about 10 cells and list them in a separate worksheet.

    a portion of the worksheet looks like this:
    CORRECTIVE ACTION
    Electric
    Fuel Sys
    Brakes
    Drive Train
    Tires
    Equip
    Cool Sys


    Each title has a drop down box that lists various repairs.

    The report looks like this:

    Public Works Department Vehicles Repaired or Serviced
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    7
    8
    9
    10

    On each line I want to automatically copy the text from the Corrective Action drop down box. There may be one repair or four repairs. There will be more than one worksheet also!

    Is there a way to automatically copy what the mechanic chose in the drop down, transfer it to the report and list each repair?

    I can make separate excel worksheets for each department within the report, which I think would be easier than trying to get excel to split the department by the "IF" function. Any ideas?

    FLEET SERVICES DEPARTMENT
    MONTHLY REPORT

    Performance Measures
    Outcomes:
    Percent of Vehicles Repaired
    Total Hours of Vehicle Down Time

    Outputs:
    Number of Vehicle Repairs Made

    Efficiency:
    Average Number of Man-Hours per Vehicle

    Inputs:
    Total Number of Vehicles in Fleet
    Number of Repairs Requested/Required

    I don't know how to program this, but you can let excel do it by creating a macro. It has been a while since I have done this, but after you have your data that you want to copy to another worksheet, you can turn on the "record macro", then manually make all your changes and transfers, when you are done "turn off macro", give it a name, and you can use it to repeat the same procedures that are recorded. This would not be automatic until you called for the macro to do its job. As long as the date always goes to the same place etc., this works very well. I used this to upload specific data to a network.
