I'm not really sure why you need this instead of formulas, but you could use a worksheet event, such as the SelectionChange event. Search the Forum for examples.

To access the sheet module, right click on he sheet's tab & choose view code. Then set the left hand drop down to worksheet, use the right hand drop down to find the required event.
