Thanks, Roy, for insisting in solving my problem.
As it happens I think I have stumbled upon the solution empirically by trial and error: I notice that my UserForm goes to Hide when the macro executed ends with and END instruction; and it stays visible when the macro is allowed to run up till the closing END SUB.
I don't know if it is an orthodox practice, but it seems to work fine that way.

The form isn't hidden, it completely goes away: End resets everything.
There's usually no reason to use it.
