    Compare two years accounts data

    Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to these forums, and I have been browsing the posts but I haven't seen anything that directly relates to the problem I am having...

The situation is such... I have two spreadsheets that contain monthly revenue data (one for 2008 and one for 2007). I need to do a Month by Month and year over year analysis, and what I would like to do is set up a spread sheet that contains all the variance formulas etc that I will need to use for the monthly comparisons but has two input boxes (or drop down menues, whatever really) that would allow me to select the two months I want to compare and then pull the data from the two previously mentioned worksheets. Is there any easy way to do this?

    Thanks in advance!

    R

Welcome to the Forum. We ask all new users to read the Forum Rules then you don't make mistakes using the Forum. In this case your question's title should reflect the problem.

Without seeing your data layout & type I would suggest that a PivotTable might help.
    Hope that helps.

My apologies. The data is pretty simple really, it just lists the sources of revenue on the left hand side and then the subsequent 12 columns correspond to the montly amount from that source. What is a PivotTable? Anything you recommend reading that could get me up to speed on them?

    Thanks again!
