    On the right track

    Hi Dominicb,
its what I'm looking for but when I press the reset button to repopulate as files opened it starts to display duplicates. Just pressing refresh within your sheet does same. Is there a way to automate refresh and avoid duplicates?

Hi RoyUK, your suggestion makes sense (and I will probably go that route) but the ability to see for a while who has what open by a cursory look at their screen will hopefully trim down what these individuals have open unneccessarily.

    Many thanks

    Hi nigelog

*tsk* Forgot to clear the listbox before adding items - just added that button as an afterthought, hence not thinking ahead.

    Try this one instead.

Try adding this code to your ThisWorkbook module.
Private Sub Workbook_WindowDeactivate(ByVal Wn As Window)
    With UserForm1
    .ListBox1.Clear
    For Each WkBk In Application.Workbooks
    .ListBox1.AddItem (WkBk.Name)
    Next WkBk
    End With
    End Sub

    Hi Dom

I've been using it for a couple of years & replaced both Winzip & Winrar with it.

Other useful free applications there as well including a useful ftp program

    Have nearly got there now

Hi Roy, it was worth asking the question for the zip programme. Many thanks

    Hi Domnicb

have it up and running in main menu file and like the way if a file is opened from a form button on the menu it automatically appears in the listing. If you then open a further file from a hyperlink within that, it does not appear until you refresh. I can live with that. One further question though, the File Manager appears automatically in the centre of the screen, can I dictate where it is positioned as I need it in top left corner. Many thanks nigel

    Hi nigelog

You'll need to tinker with the userform properties to do that - I can't give you the numbers to use because it depends on the resolution of your screen, and what size monitor you have.
Set the userform property StartUp Position to 0-Manual.
Then play with the properties Left and Top.

I got them to the bottom left of my screen (19" widescreen display, 1280 x 768) by setting Top to 400, and Left to 750.
