create an addin that will automatically load itself

    Hi all,

I'm trying to create an addin that will automatically load itself but can't figure out how. In other words, I want the user to be able to open a workbook (.xla file) just once, and all the routines and functions will be available permanently (without creating an Auto_Open routine that creates a slew of code into their Personal.XLS workbook). Is this possible? If so, can someone point me to a website or some code?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

If I've understood your message correctly, what you want to happen DOES in fact happen automatically. There's no need to transfer code from your Add-In (.xla) file to your Personal.xls file. Any functions contained in your Add-In file will be made available to Excel once you either open the Add-In workbook directly, or else load the Add-In via Tools > Add-Ins > Browse ...

Hope this helps. Please let me know how you get on.

    Regards,

    Greg M
