Question What is the *best* version of Excel?

I've been running 2003, and while it has it's problems from time to time, I think it's been pretty good. It suffers from bloat and has some buggy issues, but I hated 2007 when I tried it for 1/2 hour. But, maybe I should upgrade. Any thoughts out there?

    Hello xcelentform,

Of all the Excel versions from '95 to 2003, I would give 2003 a high rating, not a perfect one, but a high one. I haven't purchased 2007 yet, because it is a stepping stone like Windows ME. 2007 is the first operating system to break with backwards compatibility, which is why there a lot of issues with it, and it being buggy because it is a new platform. I don't see a need to rush to hop on to the 2007 train because it will be replaced and fade out like Windows ME.

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

I'm not sure 30 minutes would give you any experience of Excel 2007's new features.

OK, it's different & needs getting used to, but some features are useful - the new Conditional Formatting formatting for instanc. I'm not sure whether all the extra row, columns, nesting etc are necessary.

2003 is much better than earlier versions, the "bloat" issue is often caused by the user.
    Hope that helps.
