Force cell entry before move or close?

    Hi all,
I want to force my students to fill out an area say E20:F31
    starting in line 20,
    filling E20 and F20 (the sequence is not important) ; E21 F21
    and so on.
I have an idea, namely to define a range ("E20:F31") and check if the first row is already completed or not.
If the row is filled out then I remove this 2 cells from the defined range.
However I can't find out how to remove a row or a single cell from a defined range.

    Thanks in advance:

When you talk about defining a range, do you mean that you are applying a name to the range, and you want the named range to reduce in size every time a cell is filled in?

What's the purpose of this requirement? Is it solely to maintain the range name, or are you also trying to prevent access to the completed cells?

    Thanks to Richard and T-J

    Hi Richard and T-J

my purpose was just to select the next empty row immediately after the filled in rows. If the program makes the selection then I can be sure about the data sequence.

One of the 2 columns must contain increasing numbers and the validation of the next cell in this row depends on the values of the already recorded values.

    Thanks for your reply
