checkbox not responding

I have a workbook with checkboxes and pushbuttons. The checkboxes are linked to particular cells and the pushbuttons contain code from a macro I wrote.

When I change things in my workbook that are seemingly unrelated (like formatting or formulas for unrelated cells), I find that my checkboxes and pushbuttons no longer respond! I cannot click on my pushbuttons to re-run the code. My fix around this is to just create a new pushbutton (right next to the nonworking button) and re-write the code. Then it works. Of course, the old pushbutton still won't work.. won't even respond as if I clicked on it!

So.. I have like 50 checkboxes - and THEY don't respond to my clicks.. I can't check or uncheck them. If I create another box right next to the existing ones, they work just fine. WHY is this happening??? I'ts driving me nuts!
