Show/Hide Rows in Index Sheet Based On Color Of Other Tabs

First of all, thank you all, I have been using this forum for a while now and have really sharpened my Excel skills. But I could not find an answer to my current problem.

I have a workbook with about 350 Worksheets (I know its a lot, but it's needed). This workbook is a template of many different projects, some sheets are needed for some projects, some aren't

In this workbook, I have a index sheet that lists each sheet name and a description (reference from a cell on each sheet). Each Description is a hyperlink to that particular sheet. (This index sheet is done with formulas rather that a macro, when I tried a macro that I found, it was WAY to slow)

For each project, I change the color of the tabs to green for the sheets I will need.

I would like to have another "index" sheet that just shows a list (preferrably with hypler links) of the sheets with green tabs.

If you need me to attach the file I will but I will have to wait untill I get home from work (no way to zip it)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Happy Holidays

    Mark

    Hi

is it possible to test for each of the sheets like this...?

This assumes your colorindex is 10 (which is one of the greens) and that your index page is the first page. It should allow you to dynamically create the index without having to hide the rows.

    Hello Mark,

Welcome to the forum! This macro will either create the second index sheet or overwrite the links if it exists. You can change the name of the sheet to whatever you want and the Tab color. The defaults are marked in blue in the macro.
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Adding the Macro
    1. Copy the macro above pressing the keys CTRL+C
    2. Open your workbook
    3. Press the keys ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor
    4. Press the keys ALT+I to activate the Insert menu
    5. Press M to insert a Standard Module
    6. Paste the code by pressing the keys CTRL+V
    7. Make any custom changes to the macro if needed at this time
    8. Save the Macro by pressing the keys CTRL+S
    9. Press the keys ALT+Q to exit the Editor, and return to Excel

    Sincerely,
    Leith Ross

Thanks guys!! I just had a chance to try it today after a few days off from work. I works although, I think I just have too many worksheets in the book. It is VERY slow, it takes about 5 minutes to run. And since I am constantly changing the color of the tabs, it just isn't feasable. I was worried about that. That is why for my "main index" I had to use formulas.

Thank you anyway, I really appreciate this and all of your other posts. They have helped me a lot.

Could you please add to this script so that I can put it in a Command Button so that when I am done with selecting all of the item for a partticular project I can press the button and it will create a new workbook with only the worksheets with green tabs?

    Thanks again for you help
