script manipulate and edit an Excel spreadsheet

    Hi Guys-

    Here is my question...

I have several excel spreadsheets which need to be manipulated (i.e. Vlookup on cell A4 to cell F3 on a different tab, =sum, etc.)

There also needs to be priorities set, and decision trees formed.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of scripting/coding possibility which would allow me to create an interface where someone can select the spreadsheet, click 'submit' and have all the calculations done automatically?

I apologize for being vague- I can certainly expand more if/where required.

    Thanks for the help.

It's certainly possible, but I don't know exactly what you want to calculate.
    Hope that helps.

    What to calculate

let's say for example the spreadsheet has 1 column of 10 numbers on one tab. I would need those 10 numbers looked up (by VLookup) on another tab. Then, I would need those 10 numbers added together, and rounded up.

Why would you need VBA to do this? Also, how can you look up those numbers, you need a reference.

Don't necessarily need VB. Not quite sure which program would be best for solving this.

The initial numbers will come on a spreadsheet. The same spreadsheet needs to be manipulated (i.e. the calculated manipulations will appear on the same spreadsheet in a seperate column)

    Also-

I have a list of numbers in a column (i.e. 13,12,12,32,4,21), and I have to get combinations of these numbers, that come as close to 40 as possible. (i.e. numbers 1, 2, 3 and numbers 5,4 and numbers 6,7 in the list)

Any idea how to do this? I'm sure there's a function, just not sure what the function is.
