Conditional Formatting

I hope this is the right area to post.

Say I have two columns in Excel, A & B. If a cell in column B is less than the number in the cell next to it, in column A, I would like the individual cell in column B to be formatted a certain way, be it shaded, colored, boldfaced, etc.

If the cell in column B is equal to that next to it in column A, I'd like nothing to be done with the formatting. And then if the cell in B is greater than the one next to it in A, I'd like the cell in column B to be formatted another way.

Can Excel do this? I wish to format an entire column of data, and it would be nice if excel would do such conditional formatting automatically. Thanks a bunch.

Select Column B and go to Format|Conditional Formatting

1. Cell Value Is >> choose Less than >> enter =$A1

2. Click Format and choose your colours. Click Ok.

3. Click Add.

4. Cell Value Is >> choose Greater than >> enter =$A1

5. Click Format and choose your colours. Click Ok.

6. Click Ok to finish.
