Check for opened applications

HI,

I would like to know how can i check if an external application is opened or not, and if it isn't, give the command to open it and if it's already open, show it.

The application is Autodesk Inventor. I know the command prompt where the exe file is located, but is ther any way to search for it automaticaly?
