    drop down list

I am trying to create a drop down selectable list in excel. I have found lots of info on the internet about Dependent Drop Down Lists but they dont do exactly what i want done.

I work in a manufacturing environment and have a giant list of different parts we use to build our product.

I want to be able to select a cell - and then have an option to go through a series of dependent lists. When i get to my final choice i want numerous cells to be filled in with info about that part.

just to make my question clear i'll give an example:
let's say i am trying to make a list about cars.
    i select a cell
i have some sort of drop down list (either in the cell or in the menus)
    - i choose car company
    - i choose car model
    - i choose car year
once i choose the year - 5 cells in the same row fill with info about that car: "price", "HP", "Engine type", "wheel diameter", "fuel efficiency"

Can anyone recommend a way to get this done?

    Thanks,

    Pete

    Use dependent lists for

    http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal13.html

    - i choose car company
    - i choose car model
    - i choose car year
    once i choose the year

then set up a table with prices etc and do a vlookup

This uses Data Validation & HLOOKUP to populate a temporary file to feed a second drop down.
    Hope that helps.
