    Columns and passwords

    Hi
I have a work sheet which contains some columns which I wish to access solely whilst allowing others to look at other content. I have managed to do this in a fashion by creating another worksheet, password protecting it, showing the content of the user sheet, and adding the columns I wish to protect in it. But this is doubling the size of the workbook. Can I password protect and hide a group of columns within a singleworksheet?

Hmmm.. I could have explained this more simply.....

If you know the password to a spreadsheet you can see columns a,b,c,d,e,f. If you don't then you can only see a,b,c.......

So you want them to view the data but not change ?? If so protection on it's own should work.

If you want them not to view formulas try this link

If you want them hidden then again normal protection with select lock and unlocked cells ticked should work

Thanks for the reply but not quite what I need. I do not want anyone to see the contents of the cells themselves except me ,as they contain the payments made by friends to a christmas club and user id's and passwords.
