    creating a filename variable

    list.zip

hello I'm a newbie to excel so please feel free to laugh on my behalf (as long as you are able to come up with good hard answer).

I have created two very similar forms that fead off another lets say on is call A1 and the other B1

each time I need to rename the files and fill the B file using it's coreponding B file.

    example A1,A2,A3
    B1,B2,B3

I am using a Vlook up command to update my B file:

    =VLOOKUP('E:\0Clients\INPROGRESS\ofrat\[A1.xls]PREFORMA'!$A$20,'E:\0Clients\INPROGRESS\ofrat\[A1.xls]PREFORMA'!$A$20:$B$23,2)

this results in that B1 cells are filled with A1 cells

what i Want to do is create a variable for B file name, so If file the firsts files name would be A3 then A.xls would automaticaly change to A3

    Is this possible?

what is A smart alternative for my plan?
