Where to Put Common Code

I'm using a template to create Workbooks on demand. I would like the functionality of the newly created workbooks to reside somewhere outside them. This would allow me to change / upgrade the functionality as needed.

I've succeded in doing so using another workbook that is called up when the template or one of its decendents is opened. The problem with this is that I don’t want this source of code and page templates to be visible to the users of the system. Is there anyway to achieve this? Can I make some of its pages hidden? If so how?

Hello John,

OPen your template using Excel. Open the VBE and go to Tools > VBAProject Properties... > Protection (tab). Check "Lock Project for Viewing" and set a password.

This helps. They can still see the spreadsheet but can't access the code. When it opens as part of the project it opens read-only, so no one can really mess with the visual side of it either.
