Question Inserting rows and columns in protected sheet.

I have got a protected sheet in which some of the columns and rows are locked. Hence the user will not be able to edit these cells. But they can edit the unlocked cells.

But when i am trying to create a new column next to locked column or new row next to the locked row, the newly created column or row is also getting locked which is not the desired output for me.

If i create a new column, then it should be editable and the fresh format should be used. i mean it should not take the format of the adjacent cell while creating new column or row.

Can any of you help me on this issue.

By default, all cells in every worksheet are 'Locked'. You must manually (or through code) unlock cells you want users to have the ability to edit while the worksheet is protected.

When you're adding columns/rows, is there a challenge in selecting the entire column/row, pressing CTRL+1 (to open Format-Cells.. window), clicking the Protection Tab, then un-checking the Locked checkbox and clicking OK?

I suppose you could write or record a simple macro to do most of those steps if you wanted to save a few seconds.

    insert columns and rows

Yes. i have set the lock property of all the cells to unlock. Then i locked the requried cells manually.

please find the attached excel sheet.

Now the problem is that if i am creating a new column (eg: after column A), then newly generated column (column B) is having the same format of Column A and hence the cells adjacent to locked cells(of column A) in column B is also getting locked.

i want the column B to be not locked, not having the same format as column A.

Am i clear on my requriements.
    Note: password is 'abc'
    Thanks in advance...
