    A button to launch your macro which will turn off the protection, sort and turn the protection back on ...

    I was thinking that may be the only way. Means I would have to have cells to select which data column to sort and which way (ascending/descending). I could do that but was hoping there may be a way to allow the sort on autofilter to still work. I'm guessing not.
