    Automated Excel Reports

Hi - I am currently running a report every Monday and then emailing this report to 2-3 people. Can I somehow automate (have the report run/update at a specific time and generate an email once the report has been completed?)this report? I know that you can do this through an SQL database. But the report is kept on a server on a certain drive ("O"). Can this be done and if so how? I hope that my explanation is clear. Thanks in advance.

When you say a specific time do you mean specific date i.e report to run/update only on a monday?

I dont see why you cannot run the query. At the present is this query setup and all you are doing is either

    a) right clicking and refresh data
    b) creating a new query and running it
    c) right clicking then clicking on edit query and then changing parameters such as dates.

    ????

Wow - thanks so much! The report needs to update and ran every Monday. And the only thing that needs to be done is to right click and refresh data.

    Again,thanks so much...

any chance you could forward the file? could you confirm that you have a personal.xls file? you can do this by opening up my computer clicking on program files>microsoft office>office>XLStart you should see personal.xls or

    1. Open excel
    2. click on "Windows" thats the one next to the help button
    3. see if you see personal if not click on unhide and see if it says personal.

the reason for this is that you need to have a way to fire off the macro at some point so what I was thinking is as soon as you open excel it must check to see if it is a monday if it is then to open your file then refresh then email then close.

thats because you cannot upload a .xls here directly what you need to do is make it a zip file and then try upload it.

Do you have a personal.xls file?
