Excel does not give me the chance to enable macros

My security level is set to medium, but sometimes when I open spreadsheets, Excel does not display the pop-up window asking me to enable macros. So the file opens with macros disabled.

If I close the file and try again, usually it works and I do get the option to enable macros.

It seems to happen at random, but generally on large files, and I have noticed that it happens when Excel seems to take longer than usual in opening the file.

Anyone else has experienced this? Is it a bug?

There is an Excel security that is different to the Windows security. Click Tools, Macro, Security... Medium
I suspect that this is your problem.
    Best regards,

Thanks for the reply, but I think this is not the problem.

My Excel macro security is set to Medium all along. Besides if I close the spreadsheet in question and reopen it, Excel does ask me whether I want to enable macros.
