counting drop down box entries

    counting drop down box entries

    "i have a column which is filled using entries from data validation drop down boxes.
    I've tried to count how many of each entry is in the column, but the normal countif function won't work....Can you put me in the right direction?

    A pivot table would be an easy way to do this. Give your column of data a
    heading at the top, select all the data, then select Pivot Table and Pivot
    Chart Report from the Data menu. Drag/add your field to the Row fields area
    and also to the Data items area. By default, the pivot table should give you
    a count of each entry.
