hi, I have this code that opens a file and makes it a .wk4 file
and I want it to also list the names of the files in an excel spreadsheet and put a number of how many files are listed

Maybe you should review the following post re: Hints And Tips For New Posters In The Excel Newsgroups by Chip Pearson (reposted by Gary Brown) and refer to item 21 in particular:

Hopefully someone is working on your particular issue and will get back to you when they have found a solution...
