I have created an Excel template (ie an XLT file.)
In the template is a custom toolbar that has buttons on it. When the user clicks on the button, macros are initiated.
To assign macros to the buttons I right click on the toolbar which puts me into customize mode. I then right-click on the button I wish to add a macro to, and click on Assign Macro.
A list is shown of all the macros in the workkbook. I choose the appropriate one. So far so good. I save the template file.
When I go to use the template to create a new file, I go File>New and choose the template I have created and work on the file. This is an XLS file.
If I now close the XLS file and go back into the template file (ie XLT) the names of the macros assigned to the buttons in the custom toolbar have changed. They now have the file path of the XLS file at the start of their name.
So the original name for the macro assigned to the button may have been, say 'Film Schedule V1_09'!SORT_BREAKDOWN.
It has now been changed to:
C:\My Document\Schedules\'Film Schedule for Morgan'!SORT_BREAKDOWN.
So no longer do the buttons on the custom toolbar refer to the macros they should refer to.
HOW DO I STOP EXCEL FROM CHANGING THE NAME OF THE ASSIGNED MACRO?
I hope this explanation is better. Thanks for your interest.
Lester
