Date help, if selected date is saturday then expression returns true

Hola excel programmers, I'm creating a scheduling system for fun and I need a simple if statement to detect if the day is a saturday. If it isnt, msgbox "sorry, starting date must be a saturday."

thinking of it this way, it would/should look something like this.

if worksheets("sheet1").range("a1").value <> saturday then
msgbox "sorry, starting date must be a saturday."
end if

Should hopefully be fairly simple

Hola Chris,

You almost have it. You just need the Weekday function added. Sunday is 1, Monday 2, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, Friday 6, Saturday 7.

Example:
If Weekday(Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Value) = 7 Then
MsgBox "sorry, starting date must be a saturday."
End If
