I had an ambiguous name but Excel closed and now my file (or any auto recovers) cannot be opened. Is there a way to bypass this? I tried opening in safe mode but that did not work.

Start Excel in safe mode
Safe mode lets you start Excel without encountering certain startup programs. You can open Excel in safe mode by pressing and holding Ctrl while you start the program, or by using the /safe switch (excel.exe /safe) when you start the program from the command line. When you run Excel in safe mode, it bypasses functionality and settings such as alternative startup location, changed toolbars, the xlstart folder, and Excel add-ins. However, COM add-ins are excluded.
If your issue is resolved after you run Excel in safe mode, see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...rs=en-us&ad=us.

You could try opening the file in LibreOffice Calc.
Download LibreOffice for free and install it. https://www.libreoffice.org/download...d-libreoffice/

I usually save a lot but I was testing some weird code and boom it happened. I have backups but I had written a few macros I hate to have to redo lol.
Safe mode didn't work it just hangs on the splash screen.
I will try LibreOffice
Edit:
I was able to open in in LibreOffice however it dropped off all my Connections and Data Model
I was able to export all my macros though from Libre and now I just have a few things to redo in the Excel file and can just import my code in. Phew.
Thanks all.
