Pivot table refresh errors because overlap

I had this error on a sheet with multiple PTs.
Having had this error some time before, I thought I had sorted it by spacing them out, so was somewhat perplexed.
What was even more puzzling was the error referenced a sheet which wasn't the active one, and the reference seem to change as I experimented.

I eventually, accidentally, solved it.
The PTs are several 12 month analysis's of an Excel Table which has more than 10 years of info, the last data row of the Table was filled with just the Total line below.
Dragging the Table larger, 10 extra blank rows and then a Refresh, everything worked correctly ???

Never knew a full Table would cause that error.

This is indeed the danger with combining pivot tables on the same sheet. Quite often you might want to make a small change, but that means the pivot table loses some of its "confinement" and attempts to overlap another table.

It is important to pay attention to which way a pivot table is likely to grow. For example some may have a limited number of columns such as there being a very limited number of statuses that data can have. In this case it is probably safe to put another pivot table to the right of it.

It appears that you have taken the proper corrective action: put a buffer zone around the pivot tables. I put in BIG buffer zones and hide the rows or columns I don't want to see.

The reason I posted was because the overlap error was NOT caused by PTs being too close, it was the full Table of data. Something I have never read about anywhere.
Using a Table with PTs is a fantastic analysis tool but I do wonder about the Refresh coding, it does seem to act in a clumsy way. Tripping up with a full Table, processing PTs twice.
I am sure the clever people at MS have good reasons for the method but to me it does seem odd.
