I think you are talking about conditional formatting

Click on the top left hand corner of excel to select all cells.

Select the home tab and then condition formatting

Select new rule

Select "Use formula to determine....."

Use this as your formula =AND(CELL("col")=CELL("col",A1),CELL("row")=CELL("row",A1))

Format the cell for a yellow fill


Right Click On Your Sheet Name At the Bottom Of Excel and Select View Code
Paste this code in the module that opens and close it.
