    Question Auto-populating a calendar

    Hello,

I am trying to find a way to autopopulate a calendar, I have looked at varies threads I have found already ,but they only seem to be using a single date / day per event. The data I am working with has a start and end date for each entry.
ie - I have a list of names and each one has a start and end date, how can I transfer this onto a calendar so that they are 'blocked out' for the duration? much as they would look on an outlook calendar or similar?
    Thanks

    Re: Auto-populating a calendar

Are you saying that you only want to allow one "event" per day ? What do you want to happen if you have date ranges that overlap?

It would be a good idea if you put together a mock-up of what you want to achieve and attach it to one of your posts - details of how to do this are given in the yellow banner at the top of the screen.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

Hello, overlapping dates, sorry, should have specified (there will be alot of overlap). Will make a mock up of a list, but it really is very basic just a couple of columns - name, start date and end date.
Flexible on the calendar, whether its a any month, that updates when you change the date, or a month per tab. Both examples attached.

    Hi,

if well designed it can be done with formulas only, just needs to enter the first date (& last date if really necessary) …

For the purposes of what we are using the data for, the end dates are essential

    Re: Auto-populating a calendar

You haven't really explained how you want the data to be presented. Presumably you just want the names to be displayed on the appropriate days of the calendar, but do you want to show all the names on a particular day, accounting for overlaps in the date ranges? If so, how many names do you expect might occur on any particular day?
