Unique ID For Customer Table

Hello,

Is there a way to auto generate ID numbers for the Customers sheet that will remain with the Customer? I think this might have to be done with VBA. I tried with formulas but when sorting the table the numbers don't stay with the customer. I have the ID numbers in column A and the other columns have typical customer information.

I appreciate any help or advice

Sorting should not change data in a Row.
Upload a sample worksheet, this should be an easy fix

The ID formula is this:

=@ROW(1:1)+100

It works using the row number, therefore will update if the list is sorted.

You would be better generating a customer ID number based on the contact details.

However, the safest way is to use a bit of VBA for this.

Just replace the formulas by the values before any sort …

That's a good idea, however, if multiple people are using the form, probably not a practical solution unless it happens automagically.

The formula isn't mine - it's what is in your workbook. I was explaining why it will not work if the table is sorted differently.

You are not being trouble! This is a help forum. As I said, if you would like a bit of code to help solve this for you, one of our experts will be delighted to help you. We understand that you are probably a coding novice - nobody is going to expect you to work it out for yourself.
