eg3 = eg1.Range("C" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row

^ Can anyone explain this function?
I understand up to first open bracket, but the rest I'm new to.

This determines the last row used in a column. In this case Column C.

Manually, count the rows in column C that are used by going to the bottom of the file and then scrolling up to the last non-empty row.

you can record makro put your cursor in columns c (end of row) and ctrl + up
this similar with above

is xlUp mean up? if so what is xl mean?

Its propertis from object or command of excel
Like xlblanks,
Or xlup ,or xldown,etc
Xl maybe same as excel
Up = top
Down = bottom
[a100000].end(xlup)
From a100000 up until first non blank cells
You can do
Use ctr + up
