    Excel Automation Help

Hi I am a newbie at excel and just joined an advertising firm. I have been a given a project to complete in excel and it's a bit difficult for me given my experience with excel and based on whatever I know I am pretty sure the task I am trying to automate using excel formulas is not easy. I have attached a screen shot and the excel of the tables below and I will explain what I am trying to achieve
    Capture.JPG

We have a series of campaigns which we give a number ( 1, 2, 3, 4....... 100). Based on clients interest we start running the campaigns and our systems capture the hits. So we start investing as soon as we get the second hit for a particular campaign in a focused way. In the snapshot you can see I have started capturing the campaign hit numbers for the territories in column M. As soon as a particular territory hits we increase the Double by 1. The count in each row is previous count - the previous double ( eg Count J19 = J18-K18 ( Double ) ).

Depending on the count we invest units in the campaign which have got double hits which is depicted between columns A2:A12 and C2:C12. We will invest in the territories till the time a territory campaign hits a third time which is depicted in column M by Orange filled cells.

Generally we get our return on investment as soon as a campaign territory hits the third time we check for the ROI in columns P:S. So in the screen shot you will see that territory 11 hits for the third time in C26. So if this happens we will check for the count between column P:S and invest again on the campaigns according to this table until we reach the goal in columns. A2:A12 and C2:C12. As soon as we hit the goal, the double hit of the campaign campaign which has hit for the 3rd time becomes the first number of the array and the 3rd hit becomes the last campaign in the array and we will start entering the next campaigns thereafter.

Basically I want to create an excel where everything is automatic. I just have to put in the campaign numbers one by one s they are initiated in a cell for input( Eg in this case 11,67,56, 75..... ). I just have to input the campaigns in one cell one by one and the excel automatically tells me in which campaign to invest and how many units.

I have attached the excel which I use to do my job manually.

Requesting help of expert forum users for automating the excel. Thanking you in anticipation

    Re: Excel Automation Help

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Rule 08: Cross-posting Without Telling Us

Your post does not comply with Rule 8 of our Forum RULES. Do not cross-post your question on multiple forums without telling us about your threads on other forums.

Post a link to any other forums where you have asked the same question. If you have fewer than 10 posts here, you will not be able to post a link, but you must still tell us where else you have asked the question.

Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. The last thing you want to do is waste people's time working on an issue you have already resolved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you MUST provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post.

Expect cross-posted questions without a link to be closed and a message will be posted by the moderator explaining why. We are here to help so help us to help you!

Read this to understand why we ask you to do this, and then please edit your first post to include links to any and all cross-posts in any other forums (not just this site).

No further help to be offered, please, until the OP has complied with this request.
