Can't find Project or Library

I've posted on this before, still not close to finding a solution. The attached workbook lives on a shared drive, but I'm the only one who accesses it. I update it on a daily basis. About once every two months it corrupts itself. My first indication is a message saying "Can't Find Project or Library" when I go to open it. When I open the VB Editor I can't see the project. After that the workbook is unsaveable (even if I try to save it as an XLS instead of XLSM). I usually have backups I can restore, so it's not a total loss, but I can't figure out why it keeps corrupting or how to prevent it from corrupting. I'm in need of some HELP, please. Thank you.

Have you tried renaming it before reopening it? That has worked for me in the past

I haven't tried renaming at the first indication of trouble, but I have renamed and opened. Same corruption.

You have a reference set to the Forms library but do not appear to have any userforms or MSForms controls in the file- although there is a code stub for an optionbutton click event (and a couple of other worksheet events). I'd suggest you remove those unused code stubs, remove the Forms reference and then run Code cleaner on your project.

I can't run code cleaner because I'm on 64bit Excel. When I try to remove the reference to MSForms I get a message "Can't remove control or reference; in use"

Okay, here's what I did;
1) Exported and removed all code modules.
2) Removed all code in various sheets (copied to a Word doc for safekeeping)
3) Removed "thisWorkbook" code (copied to Word doc)
4) Saved WB as .xlsx to remove all code.
5) Opened, saved as .xlsm
6) Replaced all code.
7) On References, set only for "Visual Basic for Application", "Microsoft Excel 15.0 Object Library", "OLE Automation", "Microsoft Office 15.0 Object Library"

now we'll see if that does the trick.
