What is colouring the cells? Is that a conditional format or have you manually painted them.
And if the green & yellow cells are restricted to the columns you show, (i.e. no one column has both green and yellow dates) then just use a COUNTIFS() function specifying >= the month start and <= month end

The cells are tasks, if completed it turns green else it turns yellow. They are conditional formatting.
The gree and yellow cells are not restricted to the columns as shown. Sometimes it may be available in the same column.
I am unable to use COUNTIFS() if two colors are present in one column.
If it is conditional formatting then use the formula you use for conditional formatting to count them.
If you want something done right... find a forum and ask an online expert.
