I cannot figure out why this doesn't work for data with 2017 dates in it... it works for 2016 just fine... any help would be AMAZING!

Almost impossible to say unless we can see the actual data. Please upload the workbook.
However your title says this is a Sorting request but it's not entirely clear what your macro is doing. Are you trying to sort a data set using a hierarchy of several columns and is there some reason why the normal standard SORT functionality won't work?

I knew I should have attached a file to start! Sorry about that...
Attached is DATA from 2016 that works great... then a file with 2017 that does not work...
