in Excel use Find & Replace: Find "<*>" Replace " " (Do NOT type the quotes, in the REPLACE put in a Single Space
If you have some BEFORE/AFTER examples to fully demonstrate what "convert html to text" means to you, perhaps we can offer more suggestions.

Thank you. That worked fine. The single space tip is what I wasn't doing originally.
