Disable Edit Objects but Allow Editing Comment

Hello All,

I'd like to protect my sheet from editing images, shapes etc. but want the user to be able to create, edit and delete comments.
Protecting the sheet with "edit objects" unticked prevents editing shapes but also editing comments.
Any ideas.

I'd rather do not use the unprotect and protect in my code.

A comment is an object so I'm afraid your only options are the ones you have mentioned in your question.
