Automatically open a workbook and update external links

Hi everyone,

I am very keen to know how Excel opens a file and automatically update all links without intervention. For this purpose, I attached two sample files here: file 'Macro' is linked to the source file 'File 1'. I am looking for a clever macro which makes the tasks below possible:

1) Automatically open the file 'Macro' at a specific time (e.g. 9.00am)

2) Update all links automatically

3) Save and close the file when all results are updated

I tried to record a macro to do this, but did not work. I will be very grateful if some Excel VBA guru can help me for this example here. I can then adapt it for my more complex tasks
