Date filter not working in Excel 2016

Am new here so please excuse me if posting incorrectly. I have a date filter that has been working fine in Excel 2013. Switched to 2016 today and it seems to be unable to recognise the date formats? Have tried replacing date with a letter which worked fine but will no longer recognise when I use a date in "Y1"
