Excel prompts password when updating link sources

Hi,

I have a password protected workbook on a shared disc (Master).

I have an other workbook on the same disc with a link to a cell in the Master workbook (Slave).

I have a code that will update the slave workbook every 5 seconds, so that the links to the Master workbook will be updated.

Problem is, every 5 seconds when the Slave workbook updates the links I get prompted to enter the Master workbook password.

Are there any bypass for this?

Hi, xladept, thanks for your quick reply.

I tried the code, but it didn't work. Problem is, that it isn't 'This Workbook' that is password protected.
In this workbook I have a cell reference to a cell in an other Workbook. That workbook is password protected.

Then, when updating the reference/link in this workbook, to be allowed to do this, I have to enter the password to the workbook that I'm getting the cell value from.

Master workbook (Book1) is located at c:\book1.xlsm (Password protected)
Slave workbook (Book2) is located at c:\book2.xlsm (Not password protected)

In slave workbook I want to update cell B2 with the value of a cell in the master workbook. That's working fine, with a link to the cell in master workbook.

Then the problem occurs, to be allowed to pull the information from the master workbook, I have to enter password for the master workbook every time the slave workbook updates the link.

When I have a macro that updates this every 5 seconds I have to enter the password every time.
